セントラルパークに春を探しに • Searching for Spring in Central Park

今日はセントラルパークに春を探しに行って来ました、白いマグノリア（木蓮）は満開でしたがピンク系はこれから、小さな桜に似たナシ科の花や桜はやっと咲 き始めた一分咲きで、お花達には本格的な春はまだでした。気温２０度と暖かな晴天でしたので、週末ではないのに多くの方々が公園に訪れて は、思い々の春の訪れを胸いっぱいに感じている姿が眩しかった。

いつもならユダヤ街の外には出ないハシディック（原理主義ユダヤ教）の子 供達ですが、ジューシポリディー期間中なので、多く家族が沢山の子供を連れては楽しんでいました。一夫婦で子供さん１５人は目指しているらしい（笑）

銅 像の Water Angel が噴水の上に立つ、『Bethesda Terrace』は造築1859-64年で、総芸術作品といわれセントラルパークの中心（７２丁目）として昔から親しまれてきました。

一 見コンクリートで出来たように見えますが、芸術家達が自由に砂石へ彫刻した欄干（Balustrade）に改めて見入ってしまいました。

We took some time off today to visit Central Park for a few hours, stopping off at a deli to buy sandwiches and coffee to eat in the park. Both the cherry and magnolia blossoms were out and looking beautiful, and the park was busy with people enjoying the warm spring day.

We took a short walk to Bethesda Terrace, (In the Park near 72nd Street) which is considered to be the heart and soul of the park; it was as busy as usual, but this was the first time we REALLY looked at the plethora of bas-relief sculpture there (there must be hundreds of unique designs). From curiosity we looked up the history of the terrace, and here's what we found: Wikipedia: Bethesda Terrace.
