Housed in a 560,000-square-foot Beaux-Arts building, the Brooklyn Museum is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the country. A short subway ride from Manhattan, the Museum is part of a complex of nineteenth-century parks and gardens that includes Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the Prospect Park Zoo (See Above).
• Target First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum FREE
At the Brooklyn Museum's Target First Saturdays, thousands of visitors enjoy free programs of art and entertainment each month from 5 to 11 p.m. All evening long, the Museum Café serves a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, and beverages, and a cash bar offers wine and beer. Parking is a flat rate of $4 starting at 5 p.m. All other Saturdays, the Museum closes at 6 p.m.
Note: due to limited capacities, some Target First Saturday programs require tickets. Ticket lines often form 30 minutes before ticket distribution at the Visitor Center located in the Rubin Lobby.
