The Japanese Garden

昨日の火曜は休日ではないのに、入場フリーと一日前にブルンバーグラジオで、中国でもブルックリン植物園の桜祭り（５月１、２日）が話題になっているとの 報道の影響か沢山の家族連れのアジア人も訪れていました。

わんだぁらんどでは何度か紹介して来たブルックリン植物園ですが、日本ではワシ ントンDCでの桜祭りを盛んに報道してるようで、此処の美しさが世界に知れるのはNYに住む私には嬉しことです。

ミッドタウンマンハッタ ンから地下鉄で２０分で行け、隣にはブルックリン美術館もありNYに訪れる方に、ぜひお立寄をお勧めします。（笑）

一般的に開花の早い枝 垂れ桜は満開を過ぎたものもありましたが、これからの枝垂れ桜もあります。日本庭園からすぐの桜祭りの会場となる桜並木は、まだまだ２、３本しか咲いてい ず、５月の祭りにはちょうど良いかもしれません。公共の場所では飲酒が禁じられているNY市ですが、桜祭り構内においては花見フェステバル（日本文化）と して特別許可されています。

今日は３０度を超す夏型の天気でしたが、このまま暑いと桜が心配です。（汗）

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is breathtakingly beautiful, what more is there to say? My only complaint is that Aki is so fond of the Japanese Garden, especially in sakura season, that it's hard to get him to spend time anywhere else on the grounds. They DO have a terrific cafe, though, and he DOES get hungry, so we get to see more on the way to lunch!
